Jonathan focuses his practice on intellectual property and internet law, litigation, utility law, and business matters.
As to intellectual property and internet law, Jonathan has procured intellectual property rights for his clients for years. Likewise, he has asserted those rights in court and federal administrative bodies. And when others attempt to use their intellectual property rights against the firm's clients, Jonathan defends them. As one of the few downstate attorneys focusing on intellectual property matters, Jonathan has built a reputation that is backed by results for his clients.
Jonathan also focuses on utility and energy law. At the Illinois Commerce Commission, Jonathan has opposed several transmission and pipeline projects. He has also created alternative routing (or defended against landowner created routing) for projects that have been adopted by the Commission. He is also experienced in eminent domain issues and easement negotiations concerning utilities, pipelines, and wind projects.
As to litigation, Jonathan focuses on commercial litigation in both state and federal courts. Jonathan handles issues concerning taken farm implements, to collection matters, to banking transactions and shareholder disputes.
Finally, Jonathan assists small and medium size businesses with running their businesses. He helps with contract drafting and review. Jonathan also assists in the formation of corporations and limited liability companies. He has also protected his business clients from wage and discrimination claims.
