Domain Disputes up Almost 20% in Q3

Doug Isenberg’s GigaLaw is one of the great resources for intellectual property attorneys to keep on top of domain name dispute data. He publishes a quarterly digest of data on domain name disputes.

Gigalaw’s 2023 digest for quarter three has a few things to note. First, filings jumped 18 percent in quarter three. Second, nearly all filings (95%) resulted in domains being transferred.

This data confirms that UDRP proceedings remain a lower-cost option for some cybersquatting disputes when the main goal is simply to secure a domain name from a cybersquatter.
