New law limits options to oppose wind farm development

House Bill 2988 allows only counties and municipalities to establish policies about windfarms. Townships are cut out of that process. Governor Pritzker recently signed the law.

Some townships were stricter than their respective counties as for wind farms. In particular, Murdock and Newman townships, in Douglas County, passed wind farm regulations stricter than those passed by the county.

This development removes a tool from the toolbox of those who oppose wind projects. If you have questions about a wind, solar, electric transmission, or pipeline project, feel free to reach out for a free consultation to discuss.
